WireLens for iPhone and iPad

The whole proxy,
in your pocket.

Capture, decrypt and debug every app on your iPhone or iPad, on the device itself. No computer, no cables, no server in the middle.

iOS 17 or later, iPhone and iPad · Free to capture and inspect

How it works

On the device, and only on the device.

iOS does not let one app send other apps through a proxy. WireLens uses the one mechanism it does allow, and keeps all of it on your phone.

01

A VPN that never leaves the phone

WireLens uses iOS's packet tunnel to see every app's traffic, then connects to the real servers from the phone itself. There is no server of ours in the path.

02

A certificate made on your phone

Setup walks you through installing it and turning on full trust, then notices by itself when you have and starts decrypting.

03

Decrypt what you choose

Long-press a host to decrypt it. Apps you are not debugging keep working, and pinned apps are passed through untouched.

On your phone

Not a viewer. The whole toolkit.

The iPhone app has the capture engine and the debugging tools, not just a list of requests to look at.

Traffic, your way

Domains or requests, search, and chips for errors, decrypted flows, methods and status classes.

A real inspector

JSON trees, images, hex and form tables, with tokens and cookies decoded in place.

WebSocket frames

Every message in both directions, live, with payloads that open like bodies.

Breakpoints

Pause a request or a response, edit it on the phone, then execute or abort it.

Map Local and Map Remote

Answer from local content, or send a request to staging, without a rebuild.

Rewrite

Change headers, query, method, status and bodies on matching traffic.

Scripting

onRequest and onResponse JavaScript, with the same API as on the Mac.

DNS Spoof

Point a hostname at a new server for every app on the device.

Block List

See how your app behaves when a service is unreachable.

Compose

Build a request, import a cURL, or edit and resend one you captured.

Block QUIC

Push HTTP/3 apps back onto TCP, where WireLens can decrypt them.

Send it to your Mac

Export a session package and AirDrop it to WireLens for Mac, bodies and all.

What iOS decides

  • Pinned apps refuse any debugging proxy. WireLens passes them through, so they keep working while you debug your own.
  • Memory is limited for network extensions, so very large bodies are kept truncated and marked that way.
  • One VPN at a time. Starting capture pauses another VPN, and the other way round.

Better with a Mac

Point the iPhone's Wi-Fi proxy at WireLens for Mac to read it on a big screen with every Mac tool, or AirDrop a session package from the phone and open it there. The iPhone app is complete on its own; the Mac is there when you want it.

Capture an iPhone from the Mac
